Miles and Miles of Texas

O.k., so I can't help but share the awesome things the Lord has done for Matt and I lately! We went to Amarillo a couple weekends ago to continue sorting through Matt's family's house. Going to Amarillo is bittersweet. We love the people there, but it obviously has its hard side too! If you are ever wanting to meet some amazing, loving believers go to Amarillo, TX. Their love and care for us after only knowing Matt’s family for a year has warmed my heart! Anyway, while in Amarillo we were trying to decide what to do with his family's mini van (the paint was peeling, the registration expired, the sliding door was broken and someone had tried to pry the handle off, and the battery was dead!). Well, about an hour after we were discussing what to do with it (we were starting to lean towards donating it, because it was becoming a hassle), a guy randomly walked up to the house and asked if we would sell the van to him! I almost started crying, because I just was like only the Lord could work this out! We didn't have a for sale sign, or anything on it! It was just sitting in front of the house! So, Matt made a deal with the guy! Less than an hour later, a couple came by to look at the house and told us they wanted it after about 10 minutes of looking! They offered what we were hoping to get for it and seemed like a very sweet couple! (It is not a done deal yet, but we think they will definitely follow through with it). Only God can sell a house and car in 1 hour!! We were overwhelmed with the goodness of the Lord and His perfect loving care! Also, that weekend we had the opportunity to be part of a building dedication. Matt's dad was the superintendent of a Christian school in Amarillo (San Jacinto Christian Academy) and on Sunday (April 2) they dedicated/named the chapel/center for music and arts after Matt's dad. It is now called the Rehrer Center for Fine Arts and Activities. They put "Rehrer Center" in big letters on the front and it is really cool! Matt had the opportunity to speak and challenge everyone there with some things he had read in his dad's prayer journal. We had a great time getting to stay with the Fitzwaters too. They were friends of Matt’s family and have become friends of our’s also!
Then this last weekend, we got to go to San Antonio to hang out with the Harrell/Lunsford family, go to a Spur’s game and get together with some very sweet friends from Believer’s Fellowship out at the Mollenkopf’s country home. It was a wonderful time of food and fellowship (there are some amazing/loving believers in San Antonio too!) and we even found a scenic route home to Houston, which made the drive better! Thanks to EVERYONE who let us stay with them, ride with them, and eat with them over the last two weeks! We have been reminded of just how many WONDERFUL people we have in our life, even if you all do live in other parts of this big country state! All I can say is, God is truly good and is taking good care of us!
Matt is back to the rotations and wearing scrubs (he looks like a real Dr.!). He is in Anesthesiology and though it is not what he wants to do with his life, it is a nice easy couple week rotation. Well, that about sums up our life at the moment. Hope you are all doing well!!!
