A good ol' Texas weekend

This weekend had a few adventures surrounding Kyle field in College Station, TX. We went to a Texas A&M football game with our friends Grant and Jenna Dee, whose family has "former student" (they don't call them alumni) season tickets. For those of you who have never been to an A&M football game (or heard of the team), let us recount a few of the traditions that we learned.

**disclaimer: we had a LOT of fun and enjoyed trying to figure out the traditions and what we were supposed to be doing throughout the game. So, to any A&M friends, we promise we are not mocking your school.**

First, at opening kickoff and between quarters we would sing the fight song (or in our case stand and try to understand the words). Towards the conclusion of the song, everyone puts their arms around each other's shoulders and braces themselves with their feet (left foot forward) and sings something about sawing off horns, referring to the University of Texas.

Kyle field is called home of the 12th man because there is a tradition where a student is available to serve/play in the game at any time if needed. Typically one student will wear a #12 jersey and play on the kickoff team. There are MANY more traditions but it would take a long time to explain them all. It was a beautiful day and an exciting game that A&M won. The final score was A&M 25, Missouri 19.

Little did we know that while the Aggie's score was inflating our tire was deflating. We had parked back in Hempstead, TX (a small town and halfway point to College Station) to ride up with Grant and Jenna Dee and when we arrived back at the Dairy Queen we had a flat tire. So, the guys put on the donut spare while the girls ate ice cream and took pictures. For those of you who are not familiar with donut driving you can only approach speeds of about 55 mph. Grant and Jenna Dee were kind enough to follow us back also going 55.

While we were driving 55 we started a little game we like to call, "You know you're going slow when..." For example, you know you're going slow when you get passed by a Geo Metro. Or, you know you're going slow when you see a light on the side of the road change from red, to green, to red before you pass it. These things both happened. We came up with about 7 others too. We arrived safely home quite tired from laughing the whole way home. We had to take a picture of our poor ridiculous car so you all could see the "scort" at its best!

That looks like a TON of people at that stadium! I love your stories of time together. You two seem to have the best of times, especially while traveling. Thanks for the smiles!
