Independence Day Trip

Our trip down to southern California was amazing. We first stopped in Arroyo Grande. Arroy Grande is a small town inland from Pismo Beach. We had one of our best B&B experiences at the Casitas of Arroyo Grande and would highly recommend it if you are ever looking for a get-away.

We had a private back porch that where we ate breakfast and watched this hummingbird fly between flowers and trees. What an amazing creature.

We next stopped in Santa Barbara and ate at the Harbor Restaurant for our 5th wedding anniversary on July 3. This place has fond memories for us as we had our first "big date" here almost 7 years ago. It was 7 years ago that Matt only had one credit card, Discover, which he planned to use to pay for the meal only to find out that they did not accept this card. Matt remembers wondering if the restaurant would let him wash dishes in the back to pay for his food. He thankfully had some cash but not enough to pay for the entire meal and was bailed out by his future wife Kara who was also carrying cash.

On July 4, we arrived in Irvine at Kara's parents. We watched the local firwork show that night and ate the traditional burgers/hotdogs/watermelon. It is such a great holiday to honor our country and its freedom (the definition of which continues to change in a less honorable direction).

Here is a picture of us. Kara is 26 weeks pregnant in this pic. We love our daughter and feeling her kick and move around and can't wait to meet her. She moves a lot, and we think we might have an energetic one on our hands.

Kevin, Danielle, and our niece Brooklyn (pictured above) arrived on July 5 to spend the day. Brooklynn has grown so much since we last saw her at Christmas.

We had a great time in southern California and are glad to be back.

Kara is working and will be finished her job at the church in mid-August. The baby's due date was moved up 3 days to October 9, and Kara is now in the 3rd trimester. Thanks to all our faithful readers who keep up with our blog.
