26 Feet

Our move from Houston to California required a 26 foot truck. Yikes! We started in Houston by unloading the POD and loading it into the Penske. We had the help of Joe and Chance. We were also joined by the heat and humidity of Houston and we were all soaking wet. The next phase was to drive to San Antonio and load up the stuff we'd been living with for 2 months. Kara's parents flew in and the next day we drove to Amarillo. We then unloaded most of the Houston/San Antonio stuff to be able to load everything from the 10 x 10 storage unit in Amarillo. We had more help in Amarillo and we couldn't have done it without everyone's assistance. We then stopped the next night in Kingman, AZ and finished the drive up to our new home the next day. Some guys from our church helped unload the Penske and once again, we couldn't have done it without them!
We spent a total of 40 hours in the car and drove 2,400 miles. We don't want to do another move like this again any time soon!:) We are so thankful to the Lord that nothing happened on our trip and we made it safely with no problems. Since arriving here, we've been working on moving in. We've been painting some of our furniture to make it coordinate with the things we picked up in Amarillo. Most of it has gone well, but we did have a little mishap with some blue paint. It was a few shades brighter than we thought it would be but we've made it work. Welcome to the "smurf porch" as we have appropriately named it.
To tone down the "smurf blue", Matt decided to distress our side table and it turned out great!
We've also painted our kitchen table chairs. We wanted to make them coordinate with the table and add some color to the room. We think it worked!
This is our bedroom. Our bed used to be Navy blue (we got it for a really good deal), but we wanted black, so, like just about everything else we own, we painted it!
Today we bought a shredder. We decided to go with the cheapest one Target had to offer. Well, after 10 minutes it overheated and quit. Matt got creative and decided to give the poor thing an ice pack to cool down the motor. It actually worked and he finished his stack of papers.
We will add more pictures once our place is more put together. We are down to just a few boxes, a little painting and some pictures that need to be hung. Go Spurs!
